So yesterday afternoon we went preaching after meeting. It was crazy hot! The sun was super strong, but Sister Keiko and I were invited in at my first door (I may have been a few minutes late...)
We spoke with a gentleman who was 91 years old and previously had been a Colonel in the army! His hearing wasn't perfect, but his eyes and mind were still fantastic - though it took him a bit to wrap his mind around the fact that we could speak Thai (at least a little), LOL. We had an opportunity to read many scriptures together and to discuss our times today, the end of this system and what lies ahead. He was very impressed that the signs of our times were written down some 2,000 years ago. And I always love being able to tell people that, No, we don't have sponsors, we also work and earn our own way and do our work entirely free - but are happy to do so because it's good news we love to share and are so happy to have benefited from it ourselves. He was also surprised and impressed to see an American and Japanese who were close friends despite nationality, culture and age difference - he asked twice how old we were :)
He was a very kind and welcoming host - not only did we get to sit inside in a comfy air-conditioned room, he gave us coconut milk to drink - indeed positively insisted we have something! He also said he was so glad we had come and were welcome to return anytime, just call first, in case he isn't home. He also wanted his friend to "send" us - i.e. make sure we met up with our friends okay, but since they were waiting just outside it wasn't necessary. Such an amazing day in field service! I think I floated home from territory.
Then after that I had another privilege of helping to make gifts for the Special Convention with my congregation. This is the 3rd time I've had this opportunity and am so proud to be a part of it!!! (I'm hiding in the back of the picture...) We've made beautiful real leather keychains, and yesterday we packaged them. I absolutely love that they say the name of our hall, so all our visitors will be sure to remember Huay Kwang congregation!
Saturdays now I go prepare the Watchtower with a Bible Study of Keiko's and her daughter, whom I study with on Wednesdays. It's always so encouraging! The mother is working toward being a publisher and both mother and daughter are already preaching and receiving fine fruits. The mom has also been coming to our Thai meetings on Thursday for a few weeks now and isn't the least bit discouraged by the language barrier. I see her after the meeting flitting happily amongst the brothers and sisters, and oh how it makes my heart glad! This Saturday I went with a Thai sister Boo, who came and supported me even though she was a little under the weather - but the mom is a mom through and through and took good care of Boo. It's so true that when you practice giving people give in return - and in such abundance!
Last week the daughter and I did our hair together (mostly she did my hair since I'm completely hopeless!) before we studied and pretended we were at a beauty shop. She loves all things pretty and hair and makeup. Never had a little sister before - but I surely have one now!
Though I don't write often these days on this blog...truly I feel the truth in the words at Malachi 3:10, that Jehovah is pouring out his blessing until there is nothing lacking, and at Proverbs 3:10 "Then your storehouses will be completely filled, and your vats will overflow with new wine."
Truly the best life ever!!!
